EDF 3604—Assignments

Other pages on specific assignments:

Read about the course grade composition and the average workload below; choose another topic to read another part of the syllabus.

Course grade

Students will earn a semester grade based on points accumulated during the semester. Grade thresholds for the course are as follows:

Grade Percent of semester base necessary
A 87%
B 74%
C 61%
D 50%

I expect a maximum of approximately 600-650 points, but the total may vary depending on the number of student groups. I will assign plus or minus grades (e.g., a B+ as opposed to a B) within these categories for work that varies in a significant way from students receiving the plain letter grade.

To earn an A, students need to turn in solid work throughout the semester and earn high points in either the quizzes or the perspectives paper.

Average workload

Students should expect to complete at least two hours of work outside class for every hour inside class. I expect students to consider the workload of all their courses and other obligations and to balance their commitments before the second week of the semester. Taking a full load is incompatible with full-time work, and students should not feel pressure to be a constant full-time student while working through college.
