Education Reform:
History and Politics

EDG 7931 (section TBA), Summer 2008

Brief description

Education Reform: History and Politics will be a doctoral seminar (one of the EDG 7931 selected-topics sections) focusing on education reform as a form of policy making (and performance) with its own history and politics.

Meetings

The class will meet all day at High Point Elementary School (map) in Clearwater, Florida, on June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, and July 26. All meetings are mandatory except for documented reasons tied to serious illness, unplanned family emergencies, religious days, or required court appearances. The first four all-day meetings will focus on readings and central concepts. The last meeting will focus on student papers and presentations.

In addition to the face-to-face meetings, the class will operate with an e-mail list to support student work between class meetings and to coordinate preparation for the meetings.

Syllabus details TBA

The syllabus will be available on this page at the beginning of May, possibly sooner.
