Some Other Interesting Programs

(See some important installation information below.)

The purpose of this collection is to provide some "enrichment" programs and some commented examples of more complex algorithms than are appropriate to include in the required curriculum. The interested student who wishes to extend his or her knowledge can run the programs and study the source code.

Terry Cavanaugh's Powerpoint / VBA Demo (SciFilm.ppt - about 10MB)

PigLatin Translator

Alpha (A-Z) Die (Must have MSIE 5)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since some of these programs use ActiveX technology, to install and view them:
1) You must use Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser software, version 3 or later.
2) The first time you view a given page, you may need to set your browser's security level to "low" in order for it to install properly. You may then set the level back to medium. (For MSIE 4.0, select View, Internet Options. Then click the Security tab at the top. The settings for the Internet Zone should appear. These are the ones to reset to "low.") During installation, dialogue boxes will appear asking if you are certain that you wish to download these unsigned ActiveX objects. Say yes or you won't be able to view the programs. If you can't trust me, who can you trust?
