PROGRAM ADMISSION

In addition to meeting general admissions requirements under the advanced graduate education programs, the applicant must:

  • submit a Statement of Purpose relating their career goals specifically to this doctoral program and describing their experience with instructional technology and language teaching
  • supply a current curriculum vitae
  • provide 3 letters of recommendation from professors or other individuals who can attest to the applicant's experience and background
  • offer evidence of research experience and/or scholarly promise in a Statement of Purpose or cover letter
  • meet with the graduate faculty for a personal interview
  • submit a transcript evaluation from a foreign transcript evaluation service (http://www.grad.usf.edu/newsite/admissions/transcript.asp) for all transcripts from non-U.S. institutions
  • offer evidence of proficiency in L2 and L3 (click here for details)

Most students admitted to this program will:

  • possess a Master's degree (or equivalent academic level) from an accredited institution,
  • present a minimum GPA of 3.5 at the master's level (or international equivalent),
  • score at or above 500 on the GRE verbal reasoning and 4.5 on the GRE analytical writing,
  • submit a TOEFL score of 250 on the computer-based TOEFL (or 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL) if applicable.
  • The application deadline for domestic (U.S.) students is June 1. For international students who are currently residing in the U.S., the deadline is March 1; for those who are residing out of the U.S., the deadline is January 2. We have Fall admissions only.

The faculty will evaluate each applicant's dossier based on a composite of variables and goodness of fit with the program.
