The Secondary Education Department prepares educators for middle and secondary
schools through programs leading to the Bachelors of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of
Science (B.S.), Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Education (M.Ed.), Educational
Specialist (Ed.S), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The NEW Master's of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) degree in English Education, Foreign Language Education, and Social Science Education has been approved and is accepting its first students in the Summer of 2002. The department also offers methods courses in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language for students who are preparing to become elementary school teachers. Department members total 148 employees, including 30 continuing faculty, four visiting faculty, 25 adjunct faculty, three full-time support staff, and 71 grant personnel.
