ASSISTANTSHIPS

Assistantships are worked out individually, so exact times during the week will vary by student.  Each student who has an assistantship usually gets nine in-state credits of tuition waivers. In the past, students have received full tuition waivers in the fall and spring semesters.  In the summer, students have received full tuition waivers as well, but many students received half assistantships. This means that they received half as much money as they were receiving during fall and spring.  This will vary from year-to-year based on the budget. Because there are fewer summer assistanships, it is important to budget accordingly throughout the year or to talk to the professors or students about other options for financing oneself in the summer.  You will receive your assistantship assignments during orientation week.

  • You will also need a copy of your social security card for the assistantship form. You definitely need this for the first day of orientation.  If you misplaced your card, visit:

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/ssnumber/

  • You will need a voided check, your address, and your local telephone number for direct deposit.  It is recommended by the University that your check be directly deposited.
