Students passing portions of CLAST:

For purposes of admission, if some sections of CLAST were passed prior to July 1st, 2002 and other sections were not, students should take the portions of the General Knowledge Test (GKT) that were not passed for CLAST.  For purposes of exit, (i.e. prior to Internship), students must take and pass the sections of the GKT that were not taken and passed for admission.

Students who gained admission by use of a 10% exception, or through some other provision.

For purposes of exit, (i.e. Internship), students must take and pass all portions of the General Knowledge Test, unless they passed some portions of CLAST prior to July 1, 2002.  In this case, students would take the equivalent sections of the General Knowledge Test for sections of CLAST that were not passed prior to July 1st, 2002.

Students who already hold a valid Florida Professional Educators Certificate.

Students who already hold a valid Florida Professional Educators Certificate need pass only the appropriate Subject Area Examination for purposes of program admission and program completion, (i.e. prior to graduation).  Please note that this provision does not include a waiver for those holding a Temporary Educator’s Certificate.

Students who do not hold a valid Florida Professional Educators Certificate will be required to pass all required certification examinations, basic skills/general knowledge, professional skills, and subject area exams.

NOTE WELL:  Certification requirements in the State of Florida are changing regularly.
