In teaching English to nonnative speakers, grammar is relevant for all kinds of classes, including the K-12 teacher, the adult ed teacher, and the college teacher -- but what is ESL grammar? How is it different from what we studied as native speakers in high school? How much do you know about ESL grammar and its application in your classroom? In this presentation, we will explore how knowing ESL grammar can and should impact all teachers of ESOL learners, especially in teaching speaking. In this workshop, the speaker will demonstrate several fun activities and games that provide practice in English speaking fluency while working indirectly on grammar and vocabulary. A good teacher has a huge repertoire of these activities ready to use in class, but successful implementation of these activities depends heavily on your familiarity with ESL grammar.
