Weightman Middle School

Weightman Middle School is one of the University of South Florida's participating Professional Development Schools since 1991. This partnership benefits both institutions. The mission of any PDS is that through working together, the collaboration will transform the education of both school age students and education professional to its best case.
At Weightman Middle through the partnership with the University of South Florida, our teachers have access to continual ongoing training in methods and technology, and receive assistance in educational data analysis. The PDS program provides opportunities for teachers to become more professional, and together with the Teacher Internship program, helps shape the future of teaching. Because of these programs our school has access to university resource professionals who can assist in the school decision making, helping to ensure our quality of education.
The university also benefits from this association. Not only does Weightman Middle provide a rich supervised location for teacher interns, it also provides a location for off site university courses to be offered (that our teachers can take, too), and helps the university by assisting them to keep up to date with what is happening in today's schools.
