From its inception, the University of South Florida College of Education has demonstrated a belief in the importance of fostering productive university/ school collaborations. As a result the college has engaged in several extensive partnerships that have led to the formation of Professional Development Schools (PDS).

General PDS Goals

Goal 1 To establish professional development schools that value continuing school and faculty improvement, collaboration among partners, and a continuity of caring in a student-focused culture.

Goal 2 To define and provide collaborative linkages which support schools in continually working towards teaching practices that enhance educational outcomes for students.

Goal 3 To support communities of learners engaged in inquiry and reflective practice.

Goal 4 To create and implement innovative field-based experiences for preservice teachers that enhance the outcomes of the teacher education program and recruit and retain high quality professionals.

Goal 5 To disseminate knowledge and best practices developed at the professional development schools that lead to success for all students.
