Unit Mission and Values
Mission
The College of Education Student Academic Services (SAS) u nit embraces a mission of excellence in service and an ethic of community responsibility and accountability. This mission is achieved, in part, through engagement, partnership, and collaboration with the many internal and external communities mutually supported by the University and the College of Education. Engagement with these communities serves to build connections that advance the educational goals identified by each and a student-centered service environment that fosters, at a broader level, both teaching and lifelong learning.
Unit Values
An ethic of collegiality and pro-active
problem-solving practiced by faculty and staff in SAS and
the faculty and students served by SAS based on integrity,
civility, collaboration and professional responsibility;
- University/community engagement that advances community
development through active participation with multiple community
agents (Fantastic Friday, Hillsborough County Teacher Interview
Days, Florida Fund Minority, etc.);
- Cultural and ethnic diversity and global understanding,
as demonstrated through the staffing demographics of the
unit, as well as an appreciation and understanding of the
various ethnic/cultural/social backgrounds of our clientele;
- High quality service based on discovery, creativity,
and intellectual attainment and guided by research-based
and data-driven policies;
- Development of the personal and professional potential
of students, faculty, and staff through continuous learning
and education where new skills and knowledge are acquired
and effectively modeled and utilized through positive interactions
with clientele.
