is ranked in the top 10 of Apple
Podcast downloads and is consistently given a five-star rating by users. Approximately 40 million people
have access to Apple’s list of downloadable Podcasts.
Dr. Carine Feyten, Associate Dean at the USF College of
Education, and Dr. David Allsopp, faculty in Special Education,
have a Podcast episode available on the College’s
Laptop
Initiative within the Florida
Educational Technology Conference (FETC) 2006 Podcast.
The episode is currently ranked #10,
and the FETC 2006 Podcast as a whole ranks #16.
The FETC content contains 20 episodes of information pertaining
to the annual conference, which was held in Orlando, Florida
in March 2006.

The Laptop Initiative prepares students who are learning to become teachers, to integrate technology into K-12 instruction and is a part of the Florida Center for Instructional Technology. The goals of the initiative are to K-12 pupils with 21st century knowledge and skills; to improve the quality of teachers and increase student performance; to optimize learning through the integration of technology into the curriculum; and to conduct research and evaluation efforts in the area of technology integration. Our interns, who are knowledgeable in the use of technology, share this expertise with the teachers who supervise them and therefore enhance their skills.
The Florida Center for Instructional Technology is a leader in working with educators to integrate technology into the curriculum. In collaboration with the Office of Educational Technology, FCIT provides training services through a team of Senior Training Specialists, to assist schools and districts with technology integration. Located in the USF College of Education, FCIT is available to assist over 1,200 teacher interns who graduate from USF each year, as well as thousands of in-service teachers in Florida. FCIT also provides instructional resources for Florida's teachers and students.
