USF Patel Charter School Teacher is Among the Fastest in the World

Arron Prather

Prather ran the 60M dash in 7 seconds

to win the USA National Championship.

TAMPA (April 4, 2006) – Arron Prather, 36, is the Physical Education teacher at the USF Patel Charter School, and he is also currently the fastest Submasters runner of the 60 meters in the nation. Prather currently holds the title of USA National Champion and is on point to break the world record in his age category.

Running since he was just ten years old, Prather has always had a competitive spirit. "I was not always the fastest, but I always worked hard," stated Prather, who ended up earning places in both his high school and college halls of fame.

"Adversity causes some men to break, and some men to break records," Prather said who missed out on Olympic trials in 1996 due to an injury. "I believe that I have a purpose and a mission to help people, and I run to glorify God." Prather enjoys teaching and training students of all ages. He uses a holistic coaching and teaching approach to improve the students physically, mentally and spiritually to make them good respectful young people.

Prather gives credit to both Doug Wollard and USF Athletics for his recent win, "I would like to thank them for allowing me to train here, it allowed me to win a national championship and to help more students. I love USF and I am proud to say I train here."

Prather has been teaching for nearly seven years, and he plans to earn his Master's in Physical Education at the USF College of Education. He dreams of some day opening an after school program for inner city kids and their parents; and he hopes to make it to the World competition if a sponsor can be found. "I will always put the kids first, and my training second. I was placed here to help kids reach goals and to become good people."
