Soria E. Colomer, Ph.D., NBCT, Assistant Professor of Foreign Language/ESOL Education and Faculty, Second Language Acquisition & Instructional Technology Doctoral Program in the Department of Secondary Education, received the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Bilingual Research SIG dissertation of the year award was named an American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) faculty fellow.

Berson Appointed to National Advisory Council for The University of Hawai‘i Obama Presidential Center Initiative. Michael Berson, Ph.D. Professor of Social Science Education in the Department of Secondary Education and Senior Fellow, The Florida Joint Center for Citizenship was appointed in January to the National Advisory Council for The University of Hawai‘i Obama Presidential Center initiative. According to Berson, "The University of Hawai‘i is bidding to locate Barack Obama’s presidential library and museum in Honolulu." Berson added, "Presidential libraries are an important part of the American historical landscape, and it is a tremendous honor to be part of this initiative."
