DR. DAVID ALLSOPP AND DR. PATTY MCHATTON RECEIVE TOP HONORS. President Genshaft presented the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award to David Allsopp and Patty McHatton -- both 2005-2006 recipients --and commended them for the outstanding work they have done with the undergraduate program. This is the second consecutive year a Special Education faculty member has won the award. Last year Dr. Phyllis Jones from the Sarasota Campus was also a recipient. Read more...

DR. JIM KING AND DR. JENIFER SCHNEIDER's service learning project was a huge success. The two professors, along with doctoral students Vanessa Minick and Deborah Kozdras, taught two separate undergraduate classes back to back, and had them cross class tutor teams of small groups of children from the Community Center. Childhood Education was then recognized by the Center for their work at the annual banquet, presented by State Representative Victor Crist.
DRS. MICHAEL AND ILENE BERSON received a Spotlight Award from the USF Collaborative for Children, Families & Communities at the 10th Anniversary Celebration for their project, Evolving a Community Project to Protect Children in Cyberspace.
DR. CARLOS ZALAQUETT has received the 2006 Education Man Award by the Board of Directors of Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc.
He also received a $1650 grant from the iTOPP program for his project entitled, "Using a Tablet PC to Develop Video Presentations, Student Exercises, and Critical Thinking Activities to Enhance the Teaching of Psychodiagnosis and Treatment." Read more...

DR. CAROL MULLEN was elected to the position of chair of the USF Faculty Senate Research Council for the 2006-2007 annual cycle. Mullen is the first College of Education representative to hold this position. Her previous position, '05-'06 vice-chair, was also a first for a COEDU representative.
