College of Education Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15th to October 15th honoring the history and contributions of Hispanic culture.

Each year the College of Education honors those who have supported the advancement of Latinos in education through the Outstanding Latino/a Educator (OLÉ) Awards and ceremony, hosted by the College Diversity Committee.   This year’s awards event will be held Friday evening, October 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the COEDU TECO Room. The celebration dinner is an opportunity for nominees to share their accomplishments with their families and friends.  Read more....

Here in our own backyard, through efforts of the USF College of Education /Hillsborough County Schools Elementary Partnership, in collaboration with the USF College of Arts and Sciences, two elementary schools on or near campus, Pizzo Elementary and MOSI Partnership School, have started Roots & Shoots projects to revitalize and maintain school gardens.

National Scholarships awarded to college of Education Students. Ms. Cindy Ibarra and Ms. Ashley Parkhurst have each been awarded a Gilman Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom for the 2014 summer semester. COEDU Faculty Explain Common Core Standards on Daytime Morning Show

Dr. Gladis Kersaint, Dr. Deborah Kozdras, appeared on the Channel 8 Daytime morning show to dispel myths about the new Common Core Standards for grades K-12 in mathematics and language arts, and explain how the new standards differ from previous standards.

USF Preschool for Creative Learning earns Four-Star Rating from Quality Counts for Kids, Hillsborough County's continuous quality improvement program for early childhood education.

College of Education signs Memorandum of Understanding with Minzu University of China

The MOU allows Masters students in Chinese language education from Minzu to come to USF for one year and graduate with a dual Masters from Minzu University and USF - College of Education with an M.Ed., concentration in Foreign Language Education. This agreement has been about two years in the making.
