Writing the Dissertation
After the proposal is approved, the candidate will meet periodically with the Major Professor and other members of the doctoral supervisory committee, as needed, to review the conduct and progress of the study. The dissertation must be completed consistent with the format specified in the publication manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition), or other approved style manual, and the requirements issued by the USF Office of Graduate Studies. Thesis and Dissertation instructions are also available on the Graduate Studies website.
The candidate is required to submit a draft of the dissertation manuscript to the USF Manuscript Editor (BEH 304) for format review and approval 7-8 weeks before the last day of classes in the semester that the candidate anticipates graduating from the doctoral program. Information on the format check requirements, the documents that should be submitted, and the deadline for format check are available on the Graduate Studies website. The draft of the dissertation manuscript and other required documentation must be received in the Office of Graduate Studies (BEH 304) by the deadline posted for the given semester.
Questions regarding the format check should be directed to the Manuscript Editor, USF Office of Graduate Studies, at (813) 974-2846 or 974-5220.
