Department of Adult, Career & Higher Education

Effective August 7, 2010

The Department of Adult, Career & Higher Education at the University of South Florida is seeking a scholar/educator in career and workforce education for appointment to a 9-month tenure track position effective August 7, 2010. 

The Department of Adult, Career and Higher Education offers graduate programs in Adult education, Career and Workforce Education, and Higher Education. The Career and Workforce Education program seeks to understand and enhance the educational, organizational, economic, and social interplay of education-to-work factors and conditions affecting human learning and career development. The program operates a Master Arts in Career and Technical Education and a Ph.D. in Career and Workforce Education. These programs follow a cohort approach and are delivered primarily online. Responsibilities

We request applications from candidates whose research examines the ways in which institutional, state, federal, or international policies and practices improve career and workforce education in a global economy. Major responsibilities include teaching, advising, and contributing to the graduate programs in career and workforce education. The new faculty member will teach classes pertaining to the socioeconomic foundations of career and workforce education, learning theory supporting emerging program designs, and domestic and international comparative analyses of policies and practices. Additionally, they will direct and serve on dissertation committees, continue previously established record of scholarly productivity, secure external funding in support of the program mission, contribute to program design, development, and operational activities, and provide leadership and related service to the profession, University, and community.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Earned doctorate in Career, Technical, Occupational, Workforce Education or closely related field
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level in Career & Workforce Education
  • Strong record of research and scholarly productivity in Career & Workforce Education
  • Experience directing or co-directing dissertation committees
  • Evidence of involvement in professional organizations at the state, national, and/or international levels

 

Preferred:

  • Established record of involvement in grant projects
  • Experience delivering coursework via the Internet
  • Teaching or related experience in a career and technical education or closely related program at the secondary or postsecondary level
  • Experience promoting global perspectives and initiatives in workforce education and training
  • Evidence of commitment in diversity and multi-cultural issues in workforce education and training

Salary:  Negotiable, competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
