Instructor, Economic Education

Gus A. Stavros Center in the College of Education

Effective immediately

The Gus A. Stavros Center for Free Enterprise & Economic Education at the University of South Florida is seeking a instructor in economic education for appointment to a 12-month non-tenure earning position effective as soon as possible. 

The Gus A. Stavros Center for Free Enterprise and Economic Education is an outreach center of the College of Education. In its thirty year history, the Stavros Center has pursued its mission of collaborating with school districts, business and community groups in integrating economic education in the K-12 curricula. A center with a national reputation for exemplary programming in economic education, the Stavros Center places great emphasis on collaborative partnerships in pursuit of its mission. The Stavros Center services 10 school districts in the USF region.

Responsibilities


The person who serves in this position must possess excellent interpersonal skills, a firm commitment to “customer service,” and a passion for collaborating with educators on “best practices” in the integration of economics education content in the K-12 setting. This person reports to the Director and Stavros Endowed Chair of the Gus A. Stavros Center in the USF College of Education. Responsibilities include: creation and delivery of workshops and other programs integrating economic and financial literacy into a variety of subject areas and grade levels; coordination and frequent contact with school district curriculum specialists, local business and community leaders; forcefully advocating for the importance of economic literacy in K-12 educational programs.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in education, economics, or appropriate field;
  • Current or previous K-12 teaching certification;
  • Three years of K-12 teaching experience;
  • Commitment to enhancing teaching effectiveness in K-12 settings;
  • Demonstrated evidence of creativity in instructional strategies;
  • Experience integrating technology with instruction;
  • Successful experience collaborating on interdisciplinary curricula/instructional programs;
  • Evidence of work with diverse populations;
  • Demonstrable commitment to community engagement;
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Preferred:

  • Earned doctorate in education, economics, or appropriate field;
  • College teaching experience;
  • Interdisciplinary curriculum development experience;
  • Experience designing and presenting staff development programs;
  • Participation in professional organizations and conferences;
  • Successful experience in grant writing.

Salary:  $50,000 - $52,500 for 12 months
