The Department of Adult, Career & Higher Education at the University of South Florida is seeking a scholar/educator in higher education for appointment to a 9-month tenure track position effective August 7, 2010. 

The mission of the Department of Adult, Career and Higher Education at the University of South Florida is to provide nationally and internationally recognized graduate programs that prepare leaders, teachers and researchers for a wide array of professional positions in colleges and universities, public and private schools, and in business, industry, hospitals and governmental settings. The mission of the Higher Education Program, in particular, is to prepare educational administrators and faculty who seek employment or promotion in universities, four-year colleges, community colleges, state agencies, associations and other settings related to the field of higher education. Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include teaching, advising, and contributing to the doctoral program in Higher Education; continuation of previously established record of scholarly productivity; directing and serving on dissertation committees; securing external funding in support of the Higher Education program mission; providing leadership and service to the profession.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Earned doctorate in Higher Education or closely related field
  • Sustained record of scholarly productivity
  • Experience in directing or co-directing dissertation committees
  • University record of teaching, research and scholarly work commensurate with appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level according to USF’s standards (http://files.acad.usf.edu/facprogdev/5464.pdf)
  • Experience teaching in a Higher Education or related program at the graduate level
  • Involvement in professional organizations at the state and national levels

Preferred:

  • Experience with technology enhanced instruction
  • Established record of involvement in grant projects
  • Evidence of commitment in promoting diversity and / or global perspectives in Higher Education programs
  • Administrative experience in a Higher Education setting

Salary:  Negotiable, competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
