Severe or Profound Disabilities Graduate Certificate

This 12 hour program of study provides teachers with additional expertise in the field of Severe or Profound Disabilities.  It is anticipated that these courses will fulfill the requirements of the Florida Department of Education’s Endorsement in the field of Severe or Profound disabilities. Emphasis is placed on assessment, instruction, evaluation and transition issues of students with severe disabilities in a multi professional collaborative context that supports promoting student placement in least restrictive learning environments. Field experiences are integrated across the 4 courses.

In order to complete class requirements, class participants must have the ability to Access the Internet, Download Word documents, PowerPoint documents & PDF files. Upload Word and PowerPoint files view digitized videotapes (e.g. RealPlayer, Windows Media Player), Send and receive e-mail.

Students will also be required to have a headset with Microphone for all Elluminate sessions.Access to the online courses is located through myUSF (Blackboard)

Autism and Severe/Profound Endorsements Support Program

Personnel Development Partnership (PDP) / State Personnel Development Grant. The purpose of the Autism and Severe/Profound Endorsement Support Program is to provide financial assistance to Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teachers who are working in Florida’s public schools with students identified as autistic or severe/profound. The program provides up to $1000 per course for tuition support. Applicants must sign a program/service agreement upon admission to the program. Upon completion of the program, the participant agrees to teach students identified as autistic or severe/profound in a Florida public school for a minimum of one year for every six hours of tuition support received.
