The University of South Florida offers Florida 's only entirely online Master's Degree in Gifted Education. Our program is an intensive, 36-hour active exploration into the field of Gifted Education, with all courses delivered online through the Blackboard Platform.



 
Within the scope and sequence of these 36 hours, students will also be able to earn State of Florida endorsement for teaching gifted learners in the K - 12 classroom. Furthermore, the program is designed to ensure that all graduates are prepared to be:
 

 
 
  1. Reflective practitioners, able to evaluate their own teaching and learning styles and continuously learn from them
  2. Collaborative professionals who work cooperatively with children, families, and other professionals to improve the status not only of Gifted Education, but of education in general
  3. Affirming of diversity, capable of working sensitivity and productively with a wide range of abilities, cultu`res, and societal influences found and represented in today's classrooms
  4. Professional, ethical, competent and knowledgeable of theory and research as evidence by "best practices" of gifted education.
 
     
The Gifted Education Program provides advanced training for certified teachers to work with gifted and talented children and to work with other teachers on a consultant and/or collaborative basis. Emphasis in the program is based on:

 
 
  • understanding and serving the characteristics and needs of special populations of gifted learners
  • assessing individual student's cognitive and affective strengths and weaknesses
  • modifying educational programs to develop gifted student's potential
  • consulting with gifted students, their families and teachers
