USF Master’s Students in Gifted Receive National Award from NAGC Three Consecutive Years
2005
Keri Guilbault (center), a graduate student at the University of South Florida, received the National Association for Gifted Children’s (NAGC) 2005 non-doctoral Graduate Student Award. Keri was selected from graduate students in the United States based on her scholarship, leadership in the field of gifted education and advocacy at the local, state and international levels.
2006
USF M.A. student Lauren Johnson (center) was one of five students nationwide who were recognized with a Non-Doctoral Student Award at the National Association for Gifted Children’s 2006 annual conference held in Charlotte, NC. This award recognizes non-doctoral graduate students who have demonstrated exemplary work with students and/or schools as well as strong potential for future scholarship. Ms. Johnson is pictured with USF gifted education faculty Dr. Elizabeth Shaunessy and Dr. Michael S. Matthews, who also attended the awards ceremony.
2007
Nancy Fahmy, was recently awarded the National Association for Gifted Education (NAGC) Non-Doctoral Award. The award is made annually to students who demonstrate exemplary work with children /schools and the highest potential for future scholarship in the field of gifted education; the award will be presented the fall 2007 NAGC’s Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are particularly honored this year as it represents the third consecutive year that a student in our Gifted Education Program has received the award.
USF MA Student Selected for Inaugural 2006 NAGC Frazier Scholar Program
USF M.A. student and Hillsborough County teacher Michelle Henry (second from left) was selected by the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) as a member of the inaugural class of Frasier National Scholars. Twenty teachers nationwide, including just two teachers from Florida, and eighteen teachers from North Carolina were recognized with this prestigious new award. The Frasier Scholars program connects teachers from Title I schools with a nationally recognized scholar as a mentor, provides awardees with travel support to attend the NAGC annual conference, and organizes individualized professional development and networking opportunities at the NAGC conference. Ms. Henry is pictured with USF gifted education faculty Dr. Michael S.
