USF MA Student Selected for Inaugural 2006 NAGC Frazier Scholar Program

USF M.A. student and Hillsborough County teacher Michelle Henry (second from left) was selected by the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) as a member of the inaugural class of Frasier National Scholars. Twenty teachers nationwide, including just two teachers from Florida, and eighteen teachers from North Carolina were recognized with this prestigious new award. The Frasier Scholars program connects teachers from Title I schools with a nationally recognized scholar as a mentor, provides awardees with travel support to attend the NAGC annual conference, and organizes individualized professional development and networking opportunities at the NAGC conference. Ms. Henry is pictured with Dr. Michael S. Matthews of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte (far left), USF gifted education faculty Dr. Elizabeth Shaunessy (pictured at Michelle’s right), and Dr. Lauri Kirsch (far right), Supervisor of K-12 Gifted Education with the School District of Hillsborough County.
