SCEC Chapter 0399 Goal
Improve the Play Conditions
for Students at
Pizzo Elementary School |
 |
The Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) is a student service organization at the University of South Florida. The SCEC is a division of the national Council for Exceptional Children, which is dedicated to advocating for and improving the educational outcomes of students with various disabilities. As such, the SCEC at USF is attempting to work within the local community to improve the play conditions for students in the Early Exceptional Learning Program at Pizzo Elementary School.
Currently, the playground for these students is in need of improvement and the school has limited funds to utilize for this project. The materials and play equipment in the playground are not in working order or are in poor working condition. Due to such conditions, we are hoping to make this playground a safe and healthy environment that is accessible to all students with disabilities. In addition to refurbishing the playground, we hope to create a stimulating environment, which can foster the development of fine and gross motor skills as well as social skills.
We implore your assistance in this endeavor. At this time, we are in need of the following items:
- A wooden pavilion or cover to provide shade and shelter (26ft. x 11ft.)
- Picnic table
- Sandbox and cover (9ft. x 9ft.), Sand to fill a 9ft. by 9ft. sandbox
- Weatherproof Toys (Cars, balls, wagons, bouncy balls etc.)
- Trashcan and trash bags
- Outdoor storage bins or outdoor storage shed
- Monetary donations/sponsorship
- Other donations
Contributing organizations will be recognized for their donations. Please help us help these students with disabilities. We thank you for your time, effort and cooperation.
With sincere appreciation,
