Project LASER
Mission
Statement
- Enhance capacity of faculty and graduate students in minority
institutions to engage in urban special education research
- Develop and document a strengths-based model for supporting
minority faculty and graduate students
- Coordinate a national urban special education research agenda
Values Statement
LASER will provide professional
development that capitalizes on participants' strengths and
involves them in all project phases. Services will be rendered
in a manner that honors and affirms individual and institutional
differences.
The LASER project
will serve:
- Faculty and graduate students in minority institutions (in
special education and related services departments)
- Minority students wanting to pursue doctorates in urban
special education
- Urban school personnel
- Urban children and youth
LASER Collaborative
Research Communitities are comprised of faculty and graduate
students in:
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
- Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs)
- Native American Serving Institutions (NASIs)
- Other Minority Institutions (OMIs)
