Doctoral Program - About Us
USF's Special Education department is one of eight departments in one of the largest urban Colleges of Education in the country. With an average annual budget of $8 million of federal, state and private grant funding for teacher education and research, the college is committed to teacher education, research and the preparation of national leaders in research and teacher education.
Department faculty research and scholarly interests in the department vary widely. Faculty publications include university-school collaboration; alternative teacher education programs; co-teaching; school-based issues in teacher education; inclusion; urban school and community issues; education and training of African-American men for teaching students with emotional and behavioral challenges; positive behavior support; migrant education; ethics; behavior disorders in children; philosophies of research; and gifted education.
