Goals/Objectives: 

  • Students will be able to evaluate the successes and failures of Mt. Everest explorers.

  • Students will be able to utilize Internet resources to gain an understanding of motivations, challenges, traditions and techniques of climbing Mt. Everest.

  • Students will be able to compare and contrast past and present climbing equipment.

  • Students will be able to place Everest events into history and analyzing their significance to world history.

  • Students will be able to create and present a  website that focuses on aspects of Mt. Everest as specified in the website guidelines provided in the page.

Conclusion:

This unit takes students off the beaten path traveled by most history textbooks.  When the students are finished they should have gained an understanding of the life that has reverberated through out the Everest region for near over 100 years.
