ROLE PLAYING PROCESS

You work for an advertising company that handles many types of projects. Your team specializes in designing and publishing travel brochures for tours and cruises.

You are surprised when your Division Manager assigns the task of producing a travel brochure for Judaism.  She explains that the local temple has been vandalized and that the leader wants the brochure to show how Judaism is appealing and how it contributes to the community.  This is a community awareness project to help dissolve prejudice and to promote inter-religious tolerance and community awareness of the value of Judaism.

Roles:

Each member of the group has one role, and everyone works together in decision-making.

Choose from the following roles.

A)  Researcher 1:  responsible for using the computer for the research segment of the project.

B}  Researcher 2:  responsible for filling out the worksheet and recording information the group wants to include in the travel brochure.

C)  Layout Specialist:  responsible for using the computer for the publishing segment of the project.

D)  Project Manager: responsible for keeping the group on task, leads group discussion, and makes sure the group uses the Guide for Inter-Religious Dialogue in discussion and in the travel brochure.

Directions:

The Division Manager requires you to use the following in the brochure:

1. The perspective is always that of the insider who is writing for the outsider.

To do this, you need to žget inside the headÓ of the Judaic practitioner.

2. Judaic vocabulary must be used and must be used the way an insider would use it, but also in a way that the general community can understand it.

3. The most important Judaic beliefs must be included.

4. Essentials of Judaism including interesting celebrations or practices

5. A very short history of Judaism

6. Worship information

7. Photos.

8. Be creative! Make the travel brochure interesting, fun, attractive, and respectful of the Guide for Inter-Religious Dialogue.
