Department
of Secondary Education

Welcome to the Department of
Secondary Education from Dr. Stephen J. Thornton
Our progams of study focus on a broad range of content areas, across the life span, for both school and non-school settings.
You might be interested in, for example, teaching school mathematics or literature or foreign languages, developing curriculum that bridges science and social studies, designing e-learning for adults, working with speakers of languages other than English, or some other significant area (or combination of areas) of education. In any case, the Department's capable faculty offers a rich menu of learning opportunities to prepare novice educators and to build on the experience of established professionals. Most of all we encourage you to pursue this exciting and purposeful field which is so vital to improving the lives of individuals and the diverse communities we inhabit.
