The department of Secondary Education grants bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in content areas that prepare students for a broad range of careers in both school and non-school settings.

Overall, the Department's capable and professionally active faculty offers a rich menu of learning opportunities to prepare novice educators and to build on the experience of established professionals. The department prepares individuals to provide effective instructional programs and support the learning needs of diverse populations. Doctoral students are prepared for a wide array of professional positions in universities, schools, and industry. 

 

All initial teacher preparation programs are approved by the Florida Department of Education and all programs accredited by both the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
