Non Degree Admission
You can apply and enroll as a non-degree seeking or graduate certificate student until your test results are received at USF.
The 15 hour Graduate Certificate is another option for students.
GPA Requirements
A "B" (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) average or better in their undergraduate coursework,
3.0 for the last two years of their undergraduate coursework, or
The GPA of students who enroll as non-degree seeking students may be used as part of the GPA consideration for admission to the MAT, if their undergraduate record does not reflect a 3.0. Such students should apply only if they have no less than a B in each course taken with no Ws while a non-degree student. |

The GKT is the test you need to take for admission. Some students may also be required to complete the Subject Area: Social Sciences 6-12 exam.
The computer-based test may be taken at the USF Testing Service at any time, go to Computer-Based Testing-On Demand

There are three sections of the Florida Teacher Certification Exam required for graduation and certification:
- GKT
- Profession Education
- Subject Area: Social Sciences 6-12
An original score report for the Professional Educator Exam and the Subject Area Exam (Social Science 6-12) indicating passing scores must be on file with the COEDU Graduate Office prior to Internship.

Internship
Internship will be in your last or next to last semester. Students are expected to have all coursework completed prior to internship with the possible exception of SSE 6636 and SSE 6932.
An original score report for the Professional Educator Exam and the Subject Area Exam (Social Science 6-12) indicating passing scores must be on file with the COEDU Graduate Office prior to Internship.

After Admission Advising
During your first Fall or Spring semester make an appointment
by e-mail with your advisor to plan your program. You should
- Download the Program Plan to your hard drive.
- Name the document,
- YOURLastName_FirstInitial_SSEMAT_YEAR
- Complete the plan as best you can based on your personal plans to complete your coursework and the prerequisites and recommended sequence.
- Email a copy to your advisor as an attachment prior to your program plan advising session.
- Print out a copy and bring it with you to your advising session.
- At the end of the advising session, you will be given a copy and the signed and dated original will be forwarded to the COEDU Graduate Studies Office for approval.
- You are then
expected to manage your program plan to completion.
- If you have not received an OFFICIAL copy of your program plan within a month of your advising session, contact Ms. Judy Oltz, Admissions/Registrar Officer oltz@tempest.coedu.usf.edu to determine its status.

FTCE Scores
Unless your GKT scores (they are considered part of the FTCE scores) appear on the official transcript in the COEDU Graduate Office, you must provide an ORIGINAL of the scores to the Graduate Office.
Even if you request the State to send your FTCE scores (Professional Exam and SSE Subject area exam) to USF, YOU MUST PROVIDE an ORIGINAL to the COEDU Student Academic Services Office (EDU 106). When you receive your passing scores in the mail from the FTCE office, you will receive two ORIGINAL "score reports" your score report will be perforated in half, providing two originals. Keep one of these originals for your files and provide the other original to the COEDU Student Academic Services Office either by:
- sending it via the U.S. Post Office Certified Mail/ Delivery Confirmation to

- delivering it in person to the COEDU Student Academic Services Office (EDU 106). If you choose to deliver it by hand, have a person in the office sign a piece of paper that you prepared beforehand indicating, "I have received the original copy of --YOUR Name's--official FTCE scores" and then have the person print their name, sign, and date the piece of paper (keep this in your files).

APPLYING FOR GRADUATION
You must be registered for 2 credits in the semester you graduate. Procedure
Check with the Registrar for deadlines for application, but they are typically:
- 1st week of June for Summer
- 2nd week of September for Fall
- 4th week of January for Spring
- Complete the Graduation Application Form (go to Registrar's Forms and select Graduate Degree Graduation Application).
- Applications may be sent directly (NO PROGRAM COORDINATOR SIGNATURE IS REQUIRED) to :
