Abstract: The student will explore the effects that film has had on the perception of the “Global Other” and whether or not these films have perpetuated negative stereotypes that alter the view and model the behavior of the “Global Other”.

Abstract: Students will explore the effects of Western influence on the global perception of beauty by researching an individual culture’s perception of beauty. Using PowerPoint or poster board, they will compare and contrast these perceptions with American and global perceptions. Students will distinguish the amount of time, money and effort that are spent changing the natural beauty of humans and why this change is crucial to a culture’s economy and identity.
