Jim Green is a visiting instructor in the Foreign Language Education/ESOL program. His areas of special interest include second language acquisition, ESOL, and instructional technology. Mr. Green holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical studies, a Master of Divinity in Apologetics, and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics. He is currently a soon-to-graduate doctoral candidate in the Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology Ph.D. program at the University of South Florida.
Background/Teaching
Mr. Green has extensive experience as an English as a second language teacher in Intensive English programs and overseas; however, his greatest ardor is for teacher education in the field of ESOL. He was a member of the administrative staff at the English Language Institute at USF for 12 years before joining the Secondary Education department in Tampa in August 2005.
Research/Service
Mr. Green’s research interests include first and second language acquisition and the use of technology in language acquisition, particularly in K-12 ESOL. He has conducted research in the use of articulatory phonetics in pronunciation instruction and the instructional use of technology in foreign language education by teachers at the college level.
