Professional Experience

Dr. Hohlfeld graduated in May 2008 from the University of South Florida with a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology. For her, USF also stands for U Stay Forever, as she was fortunate in being hired as the newest Assistant Professor in Instructional Technology in the Department of Secondary Education.

Prior to this latest career spiral, Dr. Hohlfeld has worked with students at all levels in both general education and special education. She has taught infants in early intervention programs, served as director and consultant for child care centers, taught kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in both general and special education, as well as undergraduate and graduate education students. The common thread through all of these experiences has been the empowerment of students and teachers with the use of technology.

While a graduate student at the University of South Florida, Dr. Hohlfeld learned how to conduct research that answers her questions about how to best support student learning. The joys of researching, teaching, and life-long learning at a Research One University has guided her choice to stay at USF.

Dr. Hohlfeld’s research focuses on examining the relationship between technology integration and positive outcomes for K-12 students, especially students who are at-risk; identifying best instructional practices for web-based distance learning; and delineating efficient methods for supporting teachers as they learn to integrate technology into their daily instructional practices.
