Bachelor's: Mathematics - University of Florida
Master's: M.S.T. in Mathematics - University of Florida
Doctorate: Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Florida. She was previously a faculty member of the University of Northern Colorado Department of Mathematics before joining USF's Department of Secondary Education in 2004.
Teaching
Dr.
Gerretson is an associate professor in mathematics education.
She teaches mathematics and mathematics education courses.
She is active in teacher professional development at an international
level.
Research
& Publications
Dr.
Gerretson's research interests include the mathematical (content
and pedagogical) development of school teachers, teacher professional
development models, mathematics in the content areas, and
self-regulatory learning. Her most recent research with teachers
has been in the Latvian countryside, continuing her study
of the impact of a professional development model upon teacher
efficacy and student learning.
Service
Dr.
Gerretson is active professionally, both at the state, national
and international levels. She serves on the Editorial Board
for the Journal of Teacher Education and Training (ISSN1407-8724).
She frequently works with teachers in their classroom, interacting
with students. Her most recent work with teachers has been
in the Latvian countryside, presenting workshops that link
mathematics, the visual arts and science. Dr. Gerretson serves
on the USF COE Assessment Committee.
