He was previously a faculty member at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville before joining USF in 1990.
Teaching
Dr.
Austin is an associate professor of mathematics education.
He teaches a wide variety of mathematics education courses in the department of secondary education.
Research & Publications
His research interests are related to the use of technology
in mathematics education and the use of literature to engage
middle school students in studying mathematics. His most recent
ventures have been in the area of assessing mathematical knowledge,
and using children's literature while teaching middle school
mathematics.
