This program will
provide the theoretical, practical, and professional skills
needed to pursue employment opportunities in exercise science,
fitness/wellness, and athletic training. The course work is
designed to prepare professionals for advanced positions in
their respective fields and is based on competencies established
by professional organizations. The program provides a core series
of classes related to exercise science.
Elective courses are offered through collaboration with other
colleges at the University of South Florida, and include courses
from the College of Engineering and the College of Public Health
Faculty
Graduate faculty members
in the Exercise Science Specialization hold doctoral degrees
in a variety of specializations from distinguished universities.
They have published in prestigious journals, written textbooks,
presented at national and international professional conferences,
and been recognized as outstanding teachers.
Admission Requirements
Students applying
to the Graduate Program in Exercise Science must have met the
following entrance requirements:
- An average GPA of 3.0 during their junior and senior years
of their undergraduate degree, or an overall GPA of at least
3.0.
Students must also
have completed the following prerequisite courses:
- Anatomy and physiology I & II or equivalent (minimum
3 credit hours each)
- Kinesiology/Biomechanics
- Exercise Physiology
- Nutrition
Recommended:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Computer Proficiency
All students applying
to the School of Physical Education & Exercise Science
Graduate Program will be reviewed by the School Graduate Program
Committee. Entrance to the program will require a majority approval
from members of the committee.
