How long does the online degree program take to complete?

It is completely up to the individual student how long the program will take. The program is designed to take about 2 years to complete. Students who are working full time may want to begin with 2 courses each semester.

How much will the online graduate program in physical education cost?

Current tuition rates may be found at Texts for each course are not included in the above costs.

How many credit hours is the Online Physical Education Degree Program?

The program has the same credit hour requirements as an on-campus program. In order to receive your degree, you will need to successfully complete ten three-hour courses. There are 24 required course hours that everyone takes and 6 elective hours, for a total of 30

What kind of degree will I receive upon completion of this online program?

You will receive the Master of Arts degree from the School of Physical Education & Exercise Science and the College of Education at the University of South Florida. This is the same degree that you would earn if you were taking courses on-campus instead of online.

When can I begin the program?

The online Physical Education Masterís Degree Program can be started at the beginning of any semester. There is not a specific sequence or order in which to take the courses except that you must take all coursework before enrolling in the Action Based Research Project course.

Will I need a computer to complete the program and do I purchase textbooks?

Yes. All content except for textbooks is online. You will need access to a computer in order to access the content. The computer programs you will need include Microsoft Office with Word, Excel and Power Point. Some courses require textbooks, other may not. See course syllabi for book requirements. Will I need access to the Internet for this program?

Yes. Communication with your instructor and your classmates is vital. All assignments will be submitted to your instructor via the Internet on a program called Blackboard. Blackboard also provides the mechanism needed to have online discussions with faculty and classmates.

What are the admission requirements for the program?

In order to be admitted to the Online Physical Education Program students must:

  • Be a veteran or beginning teacher, or, someone interested in beginning a new career.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher in all undergraduate work. There is no requirement to take an admissions exam (such as the GRE or Millers) to be in the program.
