Admission Requirements

 

Admission to the graduate programs in Measurement and Evaluation is open to all qualified applicants holding a prerequisite degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an international equivalent. In addition to meeting the USF admission requirements, the Department has the following admission criteria for students applying to any of its programs. Program admission deadlines and additional resources, including those for international students, are provided below.

M.Ed.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited university or international equivalent

Ed.S. & Ph.D.

Master's or educational specialist's degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited university or international equivalent

GRE Scores Although we do not set minimum GRE scores for admission, we do require applicants to submit their official GRE scores
Minimum GPA

M.Ed.

At least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale while an upper division student in a student in a Baccalaureate degree

Ed.S. & Ph.D.

At least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division coursework while in a Baccalaureate degree, or a minimum 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in graduate coursework

Educational or Professional Experience A minimum of two years relevant experience in education
Letters of Recommendation Three letters of recommendation from professionals who are familiar with their scholarships and work history
Interview Oral interview with two or more department faculty members
Writing Sample A scholarly paper completed as part of your prior coursework
Statement Include professionals goals (immediate, intermediate, and long term) and research interests. Professionals goals and research interests need to be compatible with the opportunities afforded through a degree in educational measurement and research
TOEFL Applicants whose native language is not English or who have not earned a degree in the U.S. must, according to university policy, submit a TOEFL score (minimum of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, or 80 internet-based test)
Transcript Evaluation All foreign transcripts require a course by course evaluation from a foreign transcript evaluation service (see International Students below)

*Must meet University requirements as well (see USF Admissions Requirements)
