Dr. Darlene Bruner

Assistant Professor

 

Dr. Bruner has 31 years of experience as an elementary and middle school teacher, school administrator, and district level supervisor in Polk County. She was principal of three elementary schools ranging in size from 300 to 1000 students and served the district as the Supervisor of Language Arts, K-8. During her K-12 career, Dr. Bruner was president of the Polk Education Association, chief negotiator for the teachers' contract, member of Board of Directors of FTP/NEA, and chairperson of the elementary principals in Polk County.
Upon her retirement from public schools, she began teaching at the university level at Valdosta State University and joined the University of South Florida 's Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies in 2002.
Darlene has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Florida State University, an M. Ed. in Elementary Education and Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida .
