MAT in Elementary Education/
ESOL Coursework

Purpose:  The MAT Program in Elementary Education/ESOL is designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree in a non-elementary area from an accredited institution and wish to become certified teachers in grades kindergarten through six.  

Please see the Admission Requirements section.  If you need GKT, register as soon as possible for the earliest available test.

In addition to coursework, Comprehensive Exam, and any other department requirement, passing scores on ALL sections of the FTCE (Florida Teacher Certification Exam) are required.  The FTCE includes Professional Ed. test (PEd), Subject Area Test (SAE), and GKT.  GKT can be waived if CLAST was passed prior to July 1, 2002. 

-----SAE Elem. K-6 and PeD must be passed in order to graduate. 

-----GKT must be passed prior to Internship Orientation.
