Background
Dr.
Scaglione is a native of Tampa, Florida and a graduate of the University of South
Florida.
Her Ph. D. is in Business Education/Industrial Psychology and
her professional experiences in teacher education have centered
on reflective practice, interactive learning environments and
the journey to personal passion.
Teaching
Dr. Scaglione inspires teachers to reach out by reaching in--
for only by discovering what you believe --can you attempt to
light the path for others. Her award-winning style has been
applauded by local and national audiences. She shares her energy,
creativity and expertise through a variety of programs and is
a frequent keynote presenter for the National Business Education
Association and other national, state and local groups. She
was recognized as Florida 's Outstanding Post-Secondary Educator
(1993) and received two Outstanding Teaching awards at USF (1992,
1990).
Current
Research/Practice
Janet
is currently collaborating on a funded project to create a Distance
MA program in Career and Technical Education. She coordinated
a major Business Technology Education restructuring initiative
(1995-98) funded by the Florida Department of Education and
has been a leader in On-Line curriculum development in Business
Education.
Recent
Publications
Janet's
interest in women's issues and her passion for life and performance
have led her into new territories as she recently wrote, composed,
produced, and performed in a musical which focuses on equity
issues related to womanhood.
Service
Janet has served the National Association of Business Teacher
Educators as a co-author for the NABTE Curriculum Guide and
on the National Collaborative to create a model On-Line Methods
curriculum. She was appointed to the Policies Commission for
Business and Economic Education (2000-2002). She has been active
in COE reform initiatives in the past and believes in and appreciates
the many wonderful individuals who create the community of USF.
