Charter School Board

In order to maintain high quality standards for the staff, families and children it serves, the USF Charter School has several organizational structures in place.  One of them is the Charter School Board, appointed through the university president to preside over policies and procedures.

The responsibilities of the Charter School Board members are to:

  • approve the vision and conceptual design of the USF Charter School that defines distinctive features of a university-based charter school;

  • approve Charter School Board members selected from among USF faculty and administrators, the Hillsborough County community-at-large, and parents of Charter School students;

  • review and approve the charter school application/contract to ensure consistency with the vision and concept design for the charter school; monitor implementation activities and timeline;

  • review and approve policies to guide the initiation and operations of the charter school;

  • review and approve expenditure plans for the charter school;

  • review and approve an annual operating budget that reflects expenditures and all sources of income to support the charter school;

  • review personnel actions associated with the charter school;

  • provide for an annual audit and management letter that will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for review and oversight;

  • monitor the progress the charter school is making toward meeting its goals and anticipated outcomes; and

  • make recommendations to the President regarding the continuation of the charter school at the conclusion of each contract period.
