Faculty Tenure & Promotion Committee

 

CHARGE/ROLE:

The Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee (FTPC) serves in an advisory capacity to the Dean on matters of tenure and promotion. The workload for the committee is in fall Semester for Tenure and Promotion, and spring Semester for mid tenure review. The committee evaluates candidates for promotion and tenure and makes recommendations to the Dean regarding the granting of promotion and tenure in accordance with USF policy. In addition, the committee will review the college tenure and promotion guidelines and processes on a regular basis. The process and deliberations of the committee are confidential.

COMMITTEE MEMERSHIP

Each department will elect one faculty member holding the rank of
Professor. In addition, three at large members (one from each department) will be elected by the tenure and tenure earning faculty. Members serve a two year term. The initial formulation will have from each unit one member who serves for one year, and a second member who serves for two years. Members may not serve consecutive terms. The chair of the FTPC is selected by the committee members.
