Her various appointments give her a diverse range of experience and skills. Ms. Santos not only has an extensive understanding of the classroom, but she also brings 9 years of supervisory and administrative experience to the Preschool. Dr. Mari T. Fernandez, search committee chair, was encouraged that Santos “expressed her priorities for the preschool as first establishing a shared vision, and then focusing on curricular issues, safety, and staff development.”
Santos herself is excited by her opportunity at the USF Preschool for Creative Learning. “As I interviewed with the search committee, Childhood Education Department, Dean Kennedy, and parents, and as I visited the students and teachers, it felt like a perfect fit,” stated Santos after the announcement was made. A sentiment shared by those who met with her. “My educational philosophy encompasses a child-centered, respectful and challenging learning environment for all children, a philosophy shared by the USF Preschool for Creative Learning” states Santos. Dr. Kennedy and the USF Preschool for Creative Learning look to capitalize on Santos’ diverse background and educational experience. “We look forward to starting the school year under the leadership of an excellent director who is enthusiastic about joining us,” states Kennedy.
Santos looks forward to extending her knowledge to the Preschool as she continues her growth in education as well. She believes that her experience in education has given her “a great appreciation for this work” and she “looks forward to sharing my experience with the USF community.”
