LEP Analysis

Description:  The LEP Analysis will include:

1. ESOL strategies that are appropriate for all the language proficiency levels (AP5); and

2. Instructional activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels (AP7).

Criterion #1: Diversity/ESOL Strategies

Description: Students will develop an LEP plan that includes ESOL strategies that are appropriate for all the language proficiency levels. AP5

 

Score

Description

1=Poor

There are no ESOL strategies in the LEP plan.

2=Limited

ESOL strategies are present, minimally integrated into the LEP Plan, and are not appropriate for Case-Study Student’s level.

3=Adequate

1-2 ESOL strategies are present in the LEP Plan that are appropriate for Case-Study Student’s level..

4=Proficient

A variety (3-4) ESOL strategies are present in the LEP plan and are appropriate for Case-Study Student’s level.

5=Outstanding

The LEP plan has been effectively infused with numerous ESOL strategies that are appropriate for Case-Study Student’s level.

Criterion #2: Human Development & Learning

Description:  Students will develop an LEP plan that includes instructional activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels. AP7

1=Poor

LEP plan does not include instructional activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels.

2=Limited

LEP plan includes few instructional activities that have a minimal effect in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels.

3=Adequate

LEP plan includes 1-2 instructional activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels.

4=Proficient

LEP plan includes 3-4 activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels.

5=Outstanding

LEP plan is infused with numerous activities that have proven successful in engaging and motivating students at appropriate developmental levels.

 

ESOL-Infused Unit Plan

 

Description:  Students will design an ESOL-Infused Unit plan for a case study student that reflects the information learned throughout the course:  The Unit Plan will include:

 

1. Effective techniques for communication with all students in the classroom, regardless of their English language proficiency in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan. (AP2);

2. A variety of effective techniques and strategies that will help them set up effective learning environments for all students, regardless of their English language proficiency (AP9); and

3. Planned instruction that utilizes varied and multiple resources for providing comprehensible instruction for all students, regardless of English language proficiency. (AP10)

Criterion #1: Communication

Description: Students will demonstrate effective techniques for communication with all students in the classroom, regardless of their English language proficiency in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan. (AP2)

Description

1=Poor

There are no techniques for communication incorporated in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan.

2=Limited

There are a minimal number of techniques for communication incorporated in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan and they are minimally effective with English language learners.

3=Adequate

1-2  techniques for communication are incorporated in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan and they are appropriate for English language learners.

4=Proficient

3-4 techniques for communication are incorporated in the ESOL-Infused Unit Plan and they are appropriate for English language learners.

5=Outstanding

The ESOL-infused unit plan has been effectively infused with numerous effective techniques for communication that are appropriate for English language learners regardless of their English language proficiency.

 

Criterion #2: Learning Environments

Description: Students will demonstrate in their ESOL-infused unit plan a variety of effective techniques and strategies that will help them to set up effective learning environments for all students, regardless of their English language proficiency (AP9)

Description

1=Poor

There are no techniques or strategies included in the ESOL-infused unit plan that will help them set up effective learning environments for the students. 

2=Limited

There are a minimal number of techniques or strategies included in the ESOL-infused unit plan that are minimally effective in setting up learning environments for the students. 

3=Adequate

1-2  techniques and strategies were included in the ESOL-infused unit plan that will help them to set up effective learning environments for all students, regardless of their English language proficiency

4=Proficient

3-4 techniques and strategies were included in the ESOL-infused unit plan that will help them to set up learning environments for all students, regardless of their English language proficiency

5=Outstanding

The ESOL-infused unit plan has been effectively infused with numerous techniques and strategies that will help them to set up appropriate learning environments for all students, regardless of their English language proficiency


Criterion #3: Planning

Description:  Students will develop planned instruction throughout the ESOL-infused unit plan that utilizes varied and multiple resources for providing comprehensible instruction for all students, regardless of English language proficiency. (AP10)

Description

1=Poor

There is no evidence of planned instruction for providing comprehensible instruction in the ESOL-infused unit plan.

2=Limited

There is minimal evidence of planned instruction for providing comprehensible instruction in the ESOL-infused unit plan that are minimally effective for some of the students.

3=Adequate

Planned instruction, including 1-2 resources providing comprehensible instruction for all students, is present in the ESOL-infused unit plan

4=Proficient

Planned instruction, including 3-4 resources providing comprehensible instruction for all students, is present in the ESOL-infused unit plan

5=Outstanding

Planned instruction, including numerous and varied resources providing comprehensible instruction for all students, regardless of English language proficiency,  is present in the ESOL-infused unit plan
