Special Education/ESOL

Important Information about ESOL Endorsement

The ESOL endorsement is a requirement for graduation, and it involves more than just taking the ESOL courses.  You are documenting the equivalent to 300 hours of ESOL training.

• You will have your ESOL binder checked in each ESOL course you take to make sure that you have completed your work from previous ESOL courses and have received the check-off sheet and that everything is in your binder   
• You are responsible to make sure that you complete the ESOL Late experience in one of your internships, or if that is not possible, that you make other arrangements to complete this requirement (Check other options in the ESOL Office).
• You are responsible to get the proper documentation from your ESOL-infused courses
• You are responsible to get a final check-off of your ESOL binder in the ESOL Office before graduating.

ESOL Courses

• FLE 4317 (formerly FLE 4315) - Teaching ESOL K-12 - students must enroll in this class during their first semester in the College of Education.

• FLE 4316 - Language Principles and Acquisition - Prerequisite - FLE 4317. This course is taken the semester prior to graduation and together with the next to the last internship. This course is only offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.

ESOL-Infused Courses: You will save all ESOL-Infused assignments from courses in your program and organize them in your binder (see instructions below on setting up your ESOL binder).
