Faculty Awards Committee
This committee advises the FPC and Dean on the development of
mechanisms for recognizing outstanding accomplishments of faculty and students, such as early career award, lifetime achievement award, student, alumni, and community partner recognitions. The committee will also review and recommend to the Dean applicants for awards such as Graduating with Distinction and University Graduate Fellows. It will alsoencourage the nominations of faculty for internal USF awards such as Distinguished University Professor, Outstanding Research Award, and Distinguished Service, and serve as an advisory role for awards that require nominations from the Dean and Department Chairs. Each year, the committee shall participate in the selection of faculty honored for outstanding teaching and mentoring and students honored for outstanding leadership, research, and professional practice. It will foster a celebratory culture within the college that honors the accomplishments of our colleagues, encourages their continuous productivity, and direct attention to the successful experiences of our faculty and students. The committee will foster relevant events such as lecture series, homecoming reception for recipients, and a spring college-wide celebration of all recipients.
Each department within the college will select one representative among the faculty, who can be of any rank, to serve on the Awards Committee. Committee members must be active faculty members within their departments. The department’s representatives should serve two-year staggered terms. No member shall serve more than two consecutive terms. In addition, a member of the Faculty Policy Council should serve as a member of the Awards Committee. The Awards Committee will elect a Chair and Co-Chair, with the Co- Chair intending to become Chair the following year.
