HOW TO GET A PERMIT TO TAKE THIS CLASS

ON CAMPUS

EME 7938 is offered on-campus on Monday evenings every Fall.  The course is required of all Instructional Technology (IT) Ph.D. and Ed.S. students. It may also be taken by doctoral students from other disciplines who have chosen an IT cognate.  It may be taken at any time during the program of studies.

In order to be eligible for a course permit, you must be a Ph.D. or Ed.S. student in IT or you must have an IT cognate. To request a permit to register, please send an email message to gsmith@tempest.coedu.usf.edu, including in the message your request to be permitted to register for the on-campus course, the name and level of your graduate program, and the name of your major professor.  If IT is your cognate, then also please include the name of your IT committee member.

If you also include your student ID number in the message it will save you a later step in the registration process, but do not include it if you do not wish to have it retransmitted by me in unencrypted format.

AT A DISTANCE

In fall 2002, the IT program began to offer a new, distance learning section of the course to serve the new IT Ed.S. program.  The limitations of existing, practical delivery technologies make this offering format much less desirable than the on-campus section, and very few students can be supported in this manner, but these limitations are considered tolerable in context of an institutional initiative to offer an IT Ed.S. program in which the course work can be completed entirely in alternative format.

In order to be eligible for a course permit, you must be an Ed.S. student in IT for whom it is impossible to attend the on-campus section.  To request a permit to register, please send me an email message exactly as described above, but indicate instead that you wish to be permitted to register for the distance learning section of the course, and also tell me why it is impossible for you to attend the on-campus section.
