Non-degree seeking students are welcome to take
courses in the Instructional
Technology program.
For example, you may be a teacher who needs a couple courses for
teacher re-certification, or you may simply want to learn more
about web design or web programming.
- Re-Certification Courses for
Teachers: Several of the IT courses are designed for
teacher re-certification. These courses do not require advanced
technology skills and most are available online. In particular,
look at EME5403: Computers in Education; EME6936:
Internet in
Education; EME6936:
Current Trends in Educational Technology; and
EME6936:
Interactive Media.
- Elective Courses for Other Graduate Degrees:
Technology courses are great electives in almost all degree programs. Some of
the students in the IT courses are in the Master's degree in Gifted
Education, while others may be in the Doctoral program in Nursing. If you
have questions about what course may be appropriate for your program, send an
e-mail to Dr. Ann Barron.
- General Skill Acquisition: Perhaps
your goal is to gain specific technology skills, such as designing or developing
a website. As a non-degree seeking student, you can select the courses that will
help you meet your goal, without enrolling in a formal degree program. Course
such as EME6936
Web Design; EME6936
Digital Video; or EME6930
Web Programming
might provide just the experience and skills you need to achieve your goals.
