A career in Instructional
Technology can take several professional paths:
- School-level
or District-level Technology Specialist: Many of the
program graduates with a Master's or Specialist's degree assume leadership roles in
K-12 schools. Positions such as technology specialists and district technology coordinator are also
possibilities career paths.
- College
Faculty: Graduates with a Master's or Specialist's degree in Instructional
Technology are qualified for Community College teaching positions.
Graduates with a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology
can seek careers at the university level. Graduates of the USF IT program are now faculty members
at Georgia State University, California State University, James Madison University, and other
universities throughout the nation.
- Instructional
Designer: Business, industry, medical, and military
environments offer opportunities for graduates seeking to design and develop
e-learning courseware and multimedia instruction. There are numerous opportunities for graduates in the Tampa Bay area and throughout Florida.
- Courseware
Development: Courses and skills in working with a variety
of programming languages and authoring systems (such as JavaScript, Authorware, and Flash) enable graduates to seek
positions in commercial courseware development.
